Install RollBerry.

Windows and macOS trust apps that are signed with a certificate from Microsoft or Apple. The RollBerry beta does not have this signature yet, so SmartScreen and Gatekeeper show a warning the first time you start it.

The warning does not mean the file is harmful. It only means your system cannot verify the publisher. Only download RollBerry from rollberry.app, and compare the checksum before installing.

Every package has a SHA-256 checksum. If it matches the value in the table, the file is complete and unchanged.

To calculate the checksum of your downloaded file:

Windows – in PowerShell:

Get-FileHash "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\RollBerry-0.12.0-win-x64.exe" -Algorithm SHA256

macOS – in Terminal:

shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/RollBerry-0.12.0-mac-arm64.dmg

Linux – in a terminal:

sha256sum ~/Downloads/RollBerry-0.12.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage

1. Download the installer (.exe). If your browser warns you about the file, choose “Keep” in the downloads list.
2. Double-click the installer to start it.
3. If “Windows protected your PC” appears, click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
4. Follow the installer’s steps. RollBerry then appears in the Start menu.

Uninstall: Settings → Apps → Installed apps → RollBerry → Uninstall.

Which package? Open the Apple menu → “About This Mac”. If “Chip” shows Apple M1, M2, or newer, choose Apple silicon. If “Processor” shows Intel, choose Intel.

1. Open the disk image (.dmg) and drag RollBerry into the Applications folder.
2. Start RollBerry from the Applications folder. macOS reports that Apple could not check the app for malware. Click “Done”.
3. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. Under “Security”, you will see that RollBerry was blocked. Click “Open Anyway” and confirm with your password or Touch ID.
4. Confirm the next prompt with “Open Anyway”. From now on, RollBerry starts without a warning.

On macOS 14 and earlier, you can also right-click the app → “Open” → “Open”.

“RollBerry is damaged and can’t be opened”? macOS shows this for unsigned apps even when the file is fine. Verify the checksum first. Then remove the quarantine flag in Terminal and start RollBerry again:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RollBerry.app

AppImage: Make the file executable and start it. In a file manager, you can also use Properties → “Allow executing file as program”.

If the AppImage does not start and reports missing FUSE, install libfuse2 (on Ubuntu 24.04 and later and on Debian 13, the package is called libfuse2t64).

Debian/Ubuntu (.deb): Install the package. RollBerry then appears in your applications menu.

sudo apt install ./RollBerry-0.12.0-linux-amd64.deb

RollBerry does not check for updates and makes no connection for that purpose. New versions are published on this website, and the release history describes the changes.

Each beta version runs for a fixed period. RollBerry 0.12.0 runs through January 28, 2027 (UTC), and the app reminds you at startup during the last seven days. By then at the latest, install the newest beta version from this website; it comes with a new term. Campaigns and media are kept.

1. Back up your campaigns, either with a quick backup or a campaign export.
2. Download the new version from rollberry.app and verify the checksum.
3. Install it the same way as the first time: on Windows, run the new installer; on macOS, replace the app in the Applications folder; on Linux, replace the AppImage or install the new .deb package.

Because every version is a new download, the Windows or macOS warning may appear again after an update.
